STMicroelectronics Names New Senior Executive Officer

Across multiple applications, STMicroelectronics (ST; New York Stock Exchange, STM), the world’s leading semiconductor supplier, announced the appointment of a new senior management team.

Fabio Gualandris once again joined STMicroelectronics as vice president and director of product quality excellence, reporting directly to STMicroelectronics President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Bozotti, who is responsible for the company's product quality work. Gualandris joined the research and development department of SGS Microelettronica, the predecessor company of STMicroelectronics, in 1984 and began his career in the semiconductor industry. For 26 years, he has held various leadership positions in various world-renowned companies including STMicroelectronics. He left STMicro to help Numonyx start a business. Numonyx is a joint venture flash memory company of STMicroelectronics and Intel and was acquired by Micron in 2010.

Gualandris’s predecessor was Georges Auguste. Georges Auguste was promoted to executive vice president of the company, responsible for the company's packaging and test manufacturing (PTM), reporting to COO Didier Lamouche. The original director of the PTM department was Jeffrey See. He will retire in the near future after he has been working for the company for 41 years. After a brief transition period, Auguste will formally replace Jeffrey See on May 1, 2011. Since August 1999, Georges Auguste has been responsible for the company's product quality department.

Claudia Levo joined STMicroelectronics as the company’s vice president, heading the corporate communications division, reporting to the company’s senior executive vice president and chief financial officer, Carlo Ferro. Levo is ST-Ericsson's senior vice president and head of global communications at a joint venture between STMicroelectronics and Ericsson. Prior to that, he held senior positions at GEC-Marconi and Ericsson's external communications division. Levo has succeeded Carlo Ottaviani, the director of corporate communications for Intent Semiconductors. Since STMicroelectronics was founded in June 1987, Carlo Ottaviani has been the company's senior director of external communications.

In addition to these new appointments, ST also announced the formation of a new organizational unit to explore new areas that could bring strategic benefits to the company, including the development of new technologies, new products and services related to ST’s business objectives. Philippe Lambinet took over Lierar’s previous strategic functions, including strategic planning and corporate development.
