February 21, 2014, Beijing – Inmarsat (LSE: ISAT.L) , the world's leading mobile satellite communications service provider, ushered in another important milestone for GX AviaTIon – Air China (abbreviation) : Air China has signed a memorandum of understanding with Honeywell Aerospace to install and test the GX AviaTIon air network connection service on Air China's current A330 aircraft in the second quarter of 2015.
Inmarsat GX AviaTIon's air network connectivity technology will make the next generation of high-speed broadband connectivity services a reality. It will provide stable, reliable, high-speed and high-bandwidth communication services for passengers' network connections and aircraft operations, and will allow airlines to deploy new network connectivity applications that were previously unavailable.
Inmarsat will provide GX AviaTIon through its three wholly-owned and operated three Ka-band satellites and targeted, fully redundantly designed terrestrial networks. Of the three I-5 satellites, the first satellite was successfully launched in December 2013, and the remaining two satellites will be deployed by the end of 2014.

The constellation of three high-throughput satellites will provide a unique and seamless global coverage of the Ka-band, which is offered by a single vendor, with a stable access speed of up to 50Mbps and the network reliability that Inmarsat is known for. In addition to supporting passenger communications, it also supports Internet real-time TV and live information push, and provides next-generation connectivity solutions for airlines with high capacity to meet future growth needs.
Honeywell's testing program with China's Air China agreement is the latest in a series of major steps at GX Aviation, demonstrating that GX Aviation is steadily moving toward meeting the global connectivity needs of commercial airlines in the first half of 2015.
