The core of the data center, Freescale's communication processing technology, helps users "take the lead"

The data center allows you to "buy online"

For Chinese netizens, the most anticipated festivals may no longer be limited to the Spring Festival and National Day, but so-called festivals such as “Double Eleven” and “Double Twelve”, and behind this emerging online festival is 100 billion yuan of online shopping transactions. Only Tmall, on November 11, 2013, Tmall's online shopping turnover reached 35.519 billion yuan, an increase of 83% over last year's "double eleven" turnover. Alipay realized a successful payment of 188 million pens, with a maximum of 790,000 pennies per minute. The rapid development of B2C has also put pressure on the IT systems of banking institutions and e-commerce websites, prompting them to speed up the upgrading of data centers.

This is just a microcosm of the role of data centers in the Internet of Things era. With the continuous development of networked devices and cloud services, data centers around the world have grown substantially both in quantity and in scale. Most of today's data centers are based on high-cost, high-energy servers. Previously, the market never needed technology that would reduce carbon emissions and significantly reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). Freescale, in partnership with partners and standards organizations, is designing some of the most cost-effective, lowest power, and more secure product solutions to meet the challenges of data centers. Specifically, data center applications include: 64-bit servers, intelligent network adapters (iNICs), application delivery controllers (ADCs), storage area networks (SANs), and converged network adapters (CANs), as shown in Figure 1. Freescale has a wide range of chips and software for use in data centers and networking equipment. The QorIQ T-series T4240/T4160 24/16 virtual core communications processor and the C29x family of cryptographic coprocessors are especially recommended.

QorIQ T4240 multi-core communication processor

Freescale's flagship T4240 has 12 physical cores and supports 24 virtual cores. The T4160 has 8 physical cores and supports 16 virtual cores. Operating at up to 1.8 GHz, these products offer high-capacity cache, hardware acceleration, and advanced system peripherals for applications that want to integrate control and data plane processing in one SoC.

The main features of the T4240 core are: 12 dual-threaded e6500 cores; 4 e6500s form a cluster, share a 2 MB L2 cache; run at up to 1.8 GHz, with a voltage of 1.0 V, with 64-bit ISA support; users, superusers And management program 3 levels of instructions; 1.5 MB CoreNet platform cache. The T4240 Accelerator and Memory Control features 64-bit DDR3 and DDR3L SDRAM memory controllers with ECC support and operating frequencies up to 1 866 MT/s; hardware-based cryptographic acceleration (SEC5.0) up to 40 Gb/s; Data compression/decompression engine (DCE1.0) up to 20 Gb/s; pattern matching engine (PME2.0) up to 10 Gb/s.

As the high-end flagship product of Freescale's communications processor, the T4240 certainly has the most powerful network element. SerDes: 32 channels with a maximum frequency of 10 GHz; Ethernet: up to 4 10GE ports on XAUI, XFI, 10Gbase-KR and HiGig, SGMII, QSGMII and RGMII support up to 16 1GE ports, packet parsing, classification and distribution ( Up to 50 Gb/s), data center bridging; Interlaken-LA; 4 PCIe, 2 on Gen2, 2 on Gen3; 2 Serial RapidIO; 2 Serial ATA (SATA2.0) controllers; Three 8-channel DMA engines; Aurora high-performance debug port.

C29x Series Encryption Coprocessor

With the double-digit cybercrime rate, many companies, such as Google, use secure web pages as a means of protecting users and companies. Clearly, secure network traffic is exploding, especially when it comes to network transactions that pass bank card and credit card transaction information. When the security transaction increases to hundreds of thousands per second, the software can no longer be completed, because the implementation of SSL or IPsec transactions needs to complete the public key handshake operation, which will cause network traffic bottlenecks.

Freescale's C29x family of cryptographic coprocessors provides a solution for sharing data-sharing transactions for data centers and network security devices, scaling up to process thousands of transactions per second. This scalable solution includes three C291, C292, and C293 coprocessors that provide 8 000 and 32 000 248-bit RSA transactions per second for secure network devices, while consuming only 4 W~10 W. Because the C29x family of devices share transactions over the PCIe bus, they can be used with QorIQ communications processors such as the T4240 or other host processors on the market.

Case: Application Delivery Controller

The Application Delivery Controller (ADC) is the network middle layer between the application server and the external interface of the data center. The ADC optimizes server efficiency by enabling HTTP termination, secure socket processing, deep packet inspection DPI threat management, compression, caching, application offloading, load balancing and traffic shaping across servers. With the QorIQ T4240 processor and the C29x family of cryptographic coprocessors, Freescale offers a cost-effective, low-power solution to the ADC market.

The data center makes the network "not blocked immediately"

It coincides with the traditional Chinese Spring Festival, and it has reached the peak of buying train tickets. The 12306 website of the train ticket sales network has a maximum of 14.4 billion hits per day, which is equivalent to 10 times per person in the country. It is considered a global wonder. The server has caused a lot of pressure, so many users can't log in and so on. The 12306 website has once again become the target of public criticism. There are many optimized solutions, and data center upgrades are definitely the focus. It is understood that the core bandwidth of the 12306 website data center is only about 40 Gb/s. To handle massive access, at least 100 or more 10 Gigabit servers must work at the same time. Now the data center of the 12306 website cannot be met on the hardware. With 24 virtual cores, the QorIQ T4240 runs at up to 1.8 GHz and offers high-capacity cache and hardware acceleration. It has achieved the highest CoreMark benchmark per watt performance configuration and overall performance score in the embedded processor world. It can be used in data center applications such as the 12306 website, so that the network may be "not blocked immediately."

The future intelligent data center construction of banks and e-commerce websites will have the following characteristics: First, it is service-oriented, that is, it has a high degree of automation and a dynamic resource structure. Through virtualization, automation and other technologies, it can achieve rapid response to resource adjustment and respond to business. Rapid development and business peaks. The second is intelligent processing, which includes the ability to make judgments and make behaviors. If the data center construction can not meet the demand, then there will be a situation of blockages when there are concentrated transactions such as “Double Eleven” and “Spring Festival online shopping train tickets”.

Using Freescale's QorIQ T-Series virtual core communications processor, C29x family of cryptographic coprocessors, and a range of high-quality networking solutions such as VorTIQa network software will make data centers perform faster, safer, and more energy efficient. In order to help enterprises and users to take the lead in their respective fields, they can grasp the opportunities brought by the Internet of Things and experience the convenience life brought by the Internet of Things.
