BCD Semiconductor has introduced an AP2502 linear current Led Driver chip with ultra-high current matching. It integrates 4 independent current sources and drives 4 parallel LEDs through a common anode. It can be widely used in mobile phones, PDAs, MP3/. 4th small size screen backlight drive.
Compared with inductive boost and charge pump solutions, the AP2502 eliminates the need for passive energy storage devices such as inductors and Flyback Capacitors to avoid the effects of switching noise on the system. A 0.1uF ceramic capacitor is required.
The AP2502 uses a unique chopping technology to switch the positive and negative inputs of the op amp op amp to eliminate current offset between different channels, achieving less than ±1% current matching. At the same time, its extremely low Dropout Voltage (Typical 65mV) and shutdown current of less than 1uA can effectively extend battery operating time and life.
The AP2502 can support up to 150KHz dimming. The EN pin is both the Power Supply end of the IC and the input end of the dimming signal. The pin can effectively save resources and realize four-channel LED driving in a small T/SOT23-6 package to meet the screen backlight of a larger size. Drive demand has broadened the scope of application of the AP2502.
The AP2502 is available in SOT23-6 and TSOT23-6 packages. An over-temperature protection module is also integrated inside to ensure the normal working environment of the LED and prolong its service life.
