Powering implantable medical devices, Microsemi provides new RF modules

Committed to providing leading suppliers of power management, safety, reliability, and high-performance semiconductor technology products, Microsemi CorporaTIon (NYSE: Nasdaq Exchange Code: MSCC) announced the provision of a Complete medical network (med-net) radio links for implantable medical devices such as defibrillators and nerve stimulators. The new radio link is made up of the Micron ZL70321 implantable RF module and the ZL70120 base station wireless module for external device controllers. Both modules are based on the ultra-low power (ULP) ZL70102 medical implantable communicaTIons service (MICS) band radio transceiver chip, supporting extremely high data rate RF for implantable medical communication applications link.

Radio technology is increasingly used in a wide range of medical implantable applications, including heart care, physiological monitoring (insulin, etc.), pain management, and obesity treatment.

MarTIn McHugh, Product Line Manager of Microsemi said: "RF engineering technology is a highly specialized discipline. Customers can use our deep expertise in this field to shorten design time and minimize project risks. Gao Senmei's dual-module radio link, companies can now focus research funds and development efforts to achieve new treatments and improve quality of life. "

About Megalink Medical Network Radio Link Solution

The ZL70321 implantable module implements all the RF-related functions required to deploy an implantable node in a MICS RF telemetry system. The integrated antenna tuning circuit allows the module and a wide range of implantable antennas (the nominal antenna impedance is 100 + j150 Ω) Shared, this module provides the following main components:

(1) ZL70102-based MICS RF transceiver with integrated matching network and SAW filter to suppress unnecessary blockers and antenna tuning;

(2) 2.45 GHz wake-up receiver matching network;

(3) Integrated 24 MHz reference frequency crystal and decoupling capacitor

The ZL70120 base station radio module includes all RF-related functions required to deploy external device functions in the MICS band RF telemetry system. This module is designed to meet regulatory requirements including FCC, ETSI, and IEC. Other functions include:

(1) Integrated matching network, band-pass filter for suppressing unnecessary blockers, and an additional receiver LNA to maximize receiver sensitivity;

(2) 2.45-GHz wake-up transmitter and antenna matching network;

(3) RSSI filter and logarithmic amplifier simplify the clear channel assessment (CCA) required by the MICS standard

(4) 24-MHz XO reference frequency for 400-MHz and 2.45-GHz subsystems, and fully shielded packages

The Micron ZL70102 transceiver chip used for implantable modules and base station modules can quickly send patient health status and device performance data, which will hardly affect the useful battery life of implantable devices. The device operates in the 402–405 MHz MICS band and supports multiple ULP wake-up options, including a 2.45 GHz ISM band wake-up receiver. The power consumption of ZL70102 is less than 6mA when sending and receiving data. The listening state before the transmission mode consumes only 290nA current, and the sleep state consumes only 10nA current.

Industrial Computers and commercial computers have always been inextricably linked. They each have their own application areas, but they affect each other and promote each other, reflecting the progress of science and technology. At present, it is better to do Sanqi Tuoda in China and Advantech in Taiwan. Advantech has a higher reputation, but its price is higher. The industrial computer site can be embedded in the machine, cabinet or placed on the operation table, and it can be used as a man-machine display interface. It is used in telecommunications, electric power, multimedia, national defense, automation equipment, manufacturing and other fields. It is used as a man-machine interface, thin client, PLC and POS communication and control terminals. Digital hospitals are used as bedside service terminals and outpatient terminals to improve hospital service and management. Banks, shopping malls, hotels, railway stations, buses, subway stations, parks and other public places as media (advertisement) players or inquiry terminals. High-end residential quarters are used as home service terminals to implement intercom, message, cost inquiry, product order, home appliance management, temperature and humidity control, etc.
