Among the key priorities are the development of the "100M Villages" demonstration projects, the expansion of 5G networks, and the first phase of the National Wide-Area Quantum Secure Communications Backbone Network. These projects are designed to boost broadband access, enhance mobile connectivity, and explore cutting-edge technologies like quantum communication.
The "100M Villages" initiative focuses on improving rural broadband access by expanding fiber-optic coverage in townships and villages. The goal is to ensure that at least 50% of rural households have fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) connections, with broadband speeds reaching 12 Mbps or higher. This project will be implemented across at least 20 counties, with strict targets for FTTH penetration and user speed performance.
For 5G, the plan emphasizes building network coverage in major urban centers such as Beijing, Shanghai, and cities in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions. Each city must deploy at least five 50G base stations to provide continuous coverage in densely populated areas. Additionally, the project aims to support over 500 5G terminals and deliver services like 4K streaming, augmented reality, and virtual reality.
The quantum secure communications backbone network builds upon the existing "Beijing-Shanghai Trunk Line" and the "Mozi" satellite. It aims to create a secure communication ring network across key economic zones, supported by ground stations and advanced operational systems. The network must meet high standards for reliability, including a minimum key generation rate of 16 kbps between any two points and an uptime of at least 720 hours.
