The world's top 500 US General Electric Company (GE) is planning to lay out a production base and R&D center for semiconductor lighting applications. Yesterday, the city's Economic and Information Committee said that in the middle of next month, GE will organize a special team to go to the city to determine the investment plan and method.
In order to improve the LED industry level in Chongqing, the city plans to promote Chongqing Silian Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., Chongqing Changxing Optoelectronics Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Xuelun Technology Co., Ltd. to cooperate with GE in capital, brand and market channels. GE executives said they plan to form a joint venture with Chongqing's leading companies to lay out production and R&D bases in Chongqing. After the joint venture was finalized, GE also plans to promote "Chongqing made" LED products worldwide.
It is reported that the Ministry of Science and Technology has officially listed Chongqing as one of the first pilot cities for the national “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand†LED lighting applications to promote investment and create leading enterprises in Chongqing. In the future, the city will focus on large-scale promotion of LED lighting products in public lighting areas such as road tunnels, municipal lighting, and underground parking lots.
