[PConline News] Not too long ago, Corsair made headlines by launching what was then the world's fastest notebook memory kit — a 32GB (4x8GB) set running at 4000MHz with CL19 timings. It caused quite a stir in the tech community. But as always, innovation moves fast, and it seems the title of "fastest notebook memory" is about to change once again.
Recently, Zhiqi has unveiled its latest offering: the Ripjaws DDR4 SO-DIMM notebook memory kit. This time, it matches the Corsair’s specs — 4x8GB, 4000MHz, and 1.35V voltage — but with improved timings: 18-18-18-38, which outperforms Corsair's previous CL19. The new kit also supports XMP 2.0 and is compatible with Intel Skylake-X processors and the ASRock X299E-ITX/AC mini motherboard.
The Zhiqi Ripjaws DDR4 4000 32GB (8GB x 4) is currently being priced, but we expect it to be on the pricier side given its performance and the current shortage of high-speed memory chips.
According to Zhiqi, this memory kit is built using premium Samsung B-Die ICs, ensuring top-tier stability. It has already been tested on an ASUS X299E-ITX/AC motherboard paired with a Core i9-7900X processor for over six hours without any issues.
Performance-wise, it delivers impressive results. AIDA64 testing showed read speeds exceeding 100GB/s, reaching 101,106MB/s, while write speeds approached 90GB/s and copy speeds surpassed 80GB/s. These numbers are nothing short of remarkable for a notebook memory kit.
Zhiqi announced that this high-performance kit will be available in Q1 2018, though the exact price hasn't been disclosed yet. Considering its cutting-edge specs and the ongoing demand for high-speed RAM, it's safe to say this "world's fastest notebook memory kit" will come with a hefty price tag. For enthusiasts and professionals looking for top-tier performance, it could be worth the investment.
