A calorimeter is a type of coal testing equipment used to measure the calorific value of coal. It's also commonly referred to as a calorimeter, heat meter, or big card machine. One of the most common issues users face is ignition failure. This can be caused by several factors: A) The ignition wire is broken, B) The electrode has poor contact, C) The electrode is corroded, D) The relay is faulty, or E) The coal sample has a low heat value that doesn't ignite properly.

1. Is the stirring mechanism working properly?

2. Check if the ignition fuse behind the calorimeter is blown.

3. Ensure the calorimeter probe shows a normal temperature reading.

4. Inspect the oxygen bomb’s ignition electrode for dirt or rust.

5. Verify that the inner cover is making proper contact with the oxygen warhead.

6. Use a multimeter to check the ignition voltage. If no voltage is detected, the issue may be related to the transformer or the relay. Possible causes include: 1) The 24V neutral wire isn’t connected to the outer casing, 2) The 24V fuse isn’t properly connected to the inner cover terminal, or 3) The control ignition relay’s terminal 3 is damaged.

Calorimeter Ignition Failure Troubleshooting Guide:

To prepare for troubleshooting, it's recommended to have spare parts on hand, such as relays of different specifications, replacement electrodes compatible with the inner cover, and an ignition wire of about 1 meter in length.

During a test, if no 24V ignition voltage is detected, but the voltage is present when the back cover relay output is turned on, this indicates a break in the circuit between the relay and the inner cylinder electrode, or between the transformer and the outer casing. Upon inspection, it was found that the inner cylinder electrode had poor contact due to corrosion and was electrically welded. After cleaning and reattaching the electrode, the problem was resolved.

Regular maintenance and careful inspection of the ignition system are essential to ensure the calorimeter operates efficiently. Always follow safety procedures when handling electrical components and replace any damaged parts promptly. By understanding the common causes of ignition failure and knowing how to troubleshoot them, users can save time and reduce downtime in their coal testing operations.
