FM stereo broadcasting mode Figure 7-68 shows the system diagram of FM stereo broadcasting. The left channel signal (L) and the right channel signal (R) form the sum signal (L + R) and the difference signal (LR) in the matrix circuit through respective pre-emphasis. The sum signal (L + R) becomes the main channel signal as it is, and the difference signal (LR) undergoes the amplitude modulation of the subcarrier by the balanced modulator to become the subchannel signal.
