Magic Leap's latest interview: Will reshape the world around us

Magic Leap's background We don't know much about Magic Leap, except for some of the videos we've seen and the company's CEO Tweet announced that it has recently reached a milestone in the development of several important products. In addition to these little clues, perhaps the biggest is that Magic Leap has gained incredible amounts of money.

To date, the Florida-based mystery company has raised nearly $1.4 billion in venture capital, and the latest C-round financing totals $793.5 million, making it the largest C-round financing in history. Funding comes from Andreessen Horowitz, Kleiner Perkins, Google, JPMorgan Chase, Fidelity, Alibaba, Warner Bros. and Legends Entertainment.

What makes Magic Leap globally focused? Forbes' David Ewalt decided to find this out. He had a rare opportunity to interview the man behind Magic Leap, CEO Rony Abovitz.

The leap of technology Magic Leap's patented "light field" technology is bound to change the status quo of life. This does not seem to be just about improving display technology or virtual reality and augmented reality. “We are building a new contextual computer,” explains Abovitz.

“We are doing something extraordinary.” As Ewalt said: Magic Leap's innovation is more than just a high-tech display technology – it's a disruptive device. This technology can affect every business that uses screens or computers. It can get rid of $120 billion in tablets and even shake the global consumer electronics business in the $1 trillion market. What it can do is far-reaching, allowing you to throw away your computer, your laptop and your phone, because all that you need will appear on your glasses, they can show them anywhere. And any size you like.

“It’s hard to imagine which areas will be unaffected,” Abovitz said. This next-generation product will be available for sale in the next 18 months and the production line has been built in Florida. At the heart of this disruptive technology is a multi-billion dollar head-mounted prototype that has been perfected by Magic Leap, and the end product will be a pair of comfortable glasses. It is not a technology used in conventional VR head-up or AR devices, and Magic Leap uses mixed-reality technology. “Virtual reality can take you to another place, and augmented reality can make Bikachu appear in your living room, and mixed reality can bring Pikachu to real life,” explains Erwalt. In order to do this, the device itself does not impose virtual objects on your view. It can project images directly onto your retina through an optical system mounted on a pair of translucent glass (the product does not burn your eyes; it simulates the way we observe naturally, rather than letting us stare at the screen ). The device also continuously collects information, scans for space obstacles, monitors sound, tracks eye movements and gestures. Objects in mixed reality can interact with the real world, and they can recognize environmental information in the real world. There are many possible applications for this technology in a magical future. For example, it can be used as a consumer entertainment device, Abovitz insists that it is not a “luxury”.

But Abovitz believes that its biggest impact lies in commercial applications, especially in medical scanning and imaging. And the most exciting is the collaboration with ILMxLAB, the immersive entertainment department of Lucas Pictures, which has produced some mixed reality experiences based on Star Wars. This is not surprising, because Abovitz himself has the same dream.

“My friends and I want to be Luke Skywalker to beat the Death Star and make a C-3PO robot,” he said. It seems that he seems to have made his dream come true and share it with us.

Explosion-proof Screen Protector

The Explosion-proof Screen Protective Film for mobile phones is a protective film that can effectively buffer the impact, prevent the screen from bursting, or prevent the glass panel from being broken and scattered due to accidental impact of the mobile phone. Screen protector with gloss, texture and surface hardness.
The Protective Film is made of imported materials from Korea. It is equipped with a proprietary "self-healing" function that can automatically repair minor scratches on the film. Daily protection measures to prevent accidental knocks and drops. The screen strengthens the screen and reduces the chance of cracking. Broken tempered glass is no longer replaced frequently.
1. Edge coverage: The Explosion-proof Screen Protector is made of PET flexible material, which is very suitable for the screen of your device, and 100% provides excellent edge coverage, and there is no gap between the edges of the device
2. High-definition resolution: high-definition display, true display of the original screen color.
3. Original touch experience: The oleophobic coating surface of the screen protector can provide your phone with original texture and perfect touch screen response speed. The PET Screen Protector also has oleophobicity and water resistance, which can prevent unnecessary fingerprints.
4. Self-repairing scratches: The Explosion-proof Protective Film with self-repairing function can automatically repair tiny scratches and bubbles within 24 hours.
5. Anti-seismic and explosion-proof: PET material has high strength, flexibility and elasticity, which can fully decompose the impact force and prevent the mobile phone from breaking.
