The flexible OLED panel introduced by LG is designed from plastic instead of the conventional glass material, and the protective film is attached to the back of the panel through the film-type packaging technology, which can effectively improve the hardness and flexibility, and also because of the plastic material. The panel is only 0.44mm thick, even the weight of the 6-inch screen is only 7.2g.
Dr. Sang Deog Yeo, executive vice president and chief technology officer of LG Display, said the technology is expected to expand to include applications such as in-vehicle displays, tablets or wearable devices, and hopes to enhance performance and differentiated designs by introducing new products. The flexible OLED panel market has taken the lead.
In addition, LG will launch the first mobile phone G FLEX with this panel in November 2013. The product is equipped with a 6-inch panel. Not all phones can be distorted, but the phone is fixed at a certain arc. This brings a better grip.
