Bourns, a global leader in the design and manufacture of electronic components, has recently expanded its acclaimed Multifuse® product line with the introduction of AEC-Q200 certified high-temperature polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) self-recovering fuses. These new fuses are available in 1206 and 1210 (equivalent to 3014 and 3024 metric) surface mount packages, designed to operate reliably at temperatures up to 125°C. The MF-NSHT and MF-USHT series are ideal for automotive systems where high thermal stability is critical, as well as for next-generation industrial boards, telecom equipment, and consumer electronics that must function in extreme heat.

The latest high-temperature Multifuse® products leverage Bourns' proprietary freeXpansion™ technology. This advanced manufacturing process enables smaller package sizes, higher holding current (Ihold), more stable resistance, and increased rated voltage (Vmax). At elevated temperatures, the Ihold of the MF-NSHT and MF-USHT series can reach up to 0.50A, while the R1 resistance can be reduced to as low as 1.6Ω, ensuring reliable performance under demanding conditions.

"Automotive applications, particularly those located under the hood, often face extremely high operating temperatures," said Lee Bourns, Product Line Manager for Multifuse® at Bourns. "Our high-temperature surface mount PPTC fuses are specifically engineered to withstand these harsh environments. With years of experience in developing robust solutions, we ensure our products meet the strict requirements of AEC-Q200Rev-C testing." He added, "In addition to our existing high-temperature offerings such as the MF-PSHT, MF-SMHT, and MF-RHT series, the new MF-NSHT and MF-USHT models provide engineers with even more flexible and reliable overcurrent protection options for automotive and industrial designs."

Manufactured in a TS16949-certified facility, the Multifuse® MF-NSHT and MF-USHT series comply with RoHS* and UL standards, and are now available for purchase worldwide.
