This case of the production and sale of counterfeit brand-name lighting network cases, the amount exceeded 10 million!

On the afternoon of January 3, the Sharp Lawn Branch of the Public Security Bureau in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, held a press conference to release updates on a major crackdown on counterfeit lighting products. As the nationwide anti-counterfeiting operation continues to wind down across multiple provinces and cities, a large-scale network involved in the production and sale of fake lamps has been dismantled. According to the investigation, the illegal manufacturing chain spans several cities in East and North China, with an estimated value exceeding 10 million yuan. The case began in March 2017 when the Sharp Lawn Branch discovered that a branded lamp sold by a local lighting store was suspected of being counterfeit. Following this lead, the police conducted sampling and sent the products to the Shanghai headquarters of a leading lighting control company for authentication, confirming their counterfeit nature. After months of meticulous work, the police identified Han Mou, a 58-year-old man from Yongnian County, Hebei Province, as the main suspect. It was revealed that he was responsible for four warehouses and three fake retail outlets in Taiyuan. Subsequent investigations led to operations in Beijing, Jiangsu, Hebei, Hubei, and Shandong, uncovering four production sites: two in Wuhan, Hubei; one in Langfang, Hebei; and one in Changzhou, Jiangsu. The counterfeit lamps were distributed across various cities in North and East China. With solid evidence gathered, the Taiyuan police escalated the case to the Ministry of Public Security, initiating the "5.12" national anti-counterfeiting operation. On July 28, the police arrested Han, Zhao, Meng, and Guo in Taiyuan, seizing four warehouses and three sales outlets. In addition, five specialized teams were dispatched to Beijing, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hebei, and Shandong to assist local authorities in investigating and dismantling the counterfeit networks. From July 21 to September 14, under the coordination of the Ministry of Public Security, police in Changzhou, Langfang, Wuhan, Linyi, and other cities arrested 14 suspects, seized four production sites, and confiscated over 460,000 counterfeit trademarks. To date, the operation has resolved eight counterfeiting cases, arrested 18 suspects, and seized four fake factories, three fake stores, and seven counterfeit warehouses. A large quantity of counterfeit brand-name lamps and trademarks were also recovered, with the total value of the case reaching 10.57 million yuan. According to the investigation, since March 2016, Han’s department has been purchasing counterfeit lamps from Wuhan, Langfang (Hebei), and Changzhou (Jiangsu), storing them in Xinghualing District, Taiyuan. These products were then distributed to three retail stores in Taiyuan and three outlets in Linyi, Shandong. Zhao was responsible for business coordination, while Meng and Guo managed the warehouses and other sales points. The value of the counterfeit goods in Taiyuan alone is estimated to be over 5 million yuan. The case is still under active investigation, with more details expected to come to light in the coming days.
