Famous Chinese architect - Zhuang Jun

Zhuang Jun (1888 ~ 1990)
Born in Shanghai on June 6, 1888, Mr. Zhuang Jun was admitted to the second preparatory class of Tsinghua School's Geng students in 1910. In the same year, he went to the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Illinois to obtain a bachelor's degree in architecture engineering. After graduating in 1914, he was hired as a lecturer and resident architect by Tsinghua University. In the autumn of 1923, commissioned by Tsinghua University, he led more than 100 students to study in the United States. I also studied at the Columbia University Institute in New York from 1923 to 1924 and went to the United States and Europe to study architecture.
In 1925, Zhuang Jun founded an architect office in Shanghai. After 1949, he was the chief engineer of the North China Construction Engineering Company of the Ministry of Communications, the Central Design Institute of the Ministry of Construction and the East China Industrial Building Design Institute, and retired in 1958.
In 1927, he co-sponsored the establishment of the China Architects Association with other architects (renamed the Chinese Institute of Architects in 1931), was elected as the first president, and was elected as the president many times.
In the early years, Zhuang Jun cooperated with American architect Henry Murphy to do Tsinghua school campus planning and some early Tsinghua architecture design. The main design projects were: Shanghai Jincheng Bank, Jinan, Harbin, Dalian, Shanghai, Qingdao, Xuzhou, etc. Bank of Communications, Hankou Continental Bank, Nanjing Salt Bank, Shanghai Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Continental Shopping Mall, Shanghai Sunkeji Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, and residential and villas.
Mr. Zhuang Jun died in Shanghai on April 25, 1990.
